CT Scan
A CT Scan is a painless non-invasive exam that gives physicians a cross sectional view of the body. Our new Toshiba Aquilion 64 Slice Scanner is the only of its kind in the Keys. Images are obtained at very thin slices in just a few seconds, with most scans lasting less than 15 seconds. With these very detailed images, we can reconstruct the body in 3D, with incredible resolution. This high tech machine also allows images of the heart (Coronary Artery CTA), Colon (Virtual Colonoscopy) and other body parts. |

MRI
Our GE SIGNA Infinity 1.5 Tesla High Field MRI scanner allows for detailed exams, using radio waves and magnetic fields. We are able to visualize in great detail joints, brains, and spines. Its use in neurological images, sports medicine, vascular studies greatly helps physicians diagnose a wide variety of medical diseases. Our MRI is the ONLY on in Key West which has met the standards for accredidation by the American College of Radiology (ACR). |
Ultrasound
Babies are not the only thing that Ultrasound can be used to image. Organs of the abdomen, pelvis, thyroid, blood vessels of the arms, legs and neck are just a few. Using sound waves, this procedure is safe and effective at imaging body parts especially in patients unable to undergo CT or MRI. Our GE LOGIC 700 Series Ultrasound machine gives the Radiologists detailed images which can help diagnose a variety of medical diseases. |
X-Ray
Key West Diagnostics provides the standard diagnostic X-Ray procedures using digital technology, reducing radiation, and processing time. The images are available in just a few minutes to send to the Radiologists via a secure internet connection. |

Bone Density
This 10 minute low radiation scan evaluates the spine and hips for loss of bone density, risk for fracture and can determine osteoporosis with just a few images. Reports are available immediately and then faxed to your physician. Our GE Lunar Prodigy Bone Density Scanner uses state of the art new technology to ensure an accurate diagnosis. |

| X-Ray* |
X Rays are widely used to make radiographs of the bones and internal organs of the body. They help doctors detect abnormalities and disease conditions such as broken bones inside a patient's body.
X-Rays are a form of radiant energy, like light or radio waves. Unlike light, x-rays can penetrate the body, which allows a radiologist to produce pictures of internal structures. The radiologist can view these on photographic film or on a TV or computer monitor.
X-Ray examinations provide valuable information about your health and play an important role in helping your doctor make an accurate diagnosis. In some cases x-rays are used to assist with the placement of tubes or other devices in the body or with other therapeutic procedures. |

CT Scan*
Total Body Scan |
A CT Scan is a computerized X-ray system used to produce images of various parts of the body. At Key West Diagnostics, we have a the Toshiba Aquilion 64 Slice Scanner, the only one of its kind in the Keys. Images are obtained at very thin slices in just a few seconds, with most scans lasting less than 15 seconds. With these very detailed images, we can reconstruct the body in 3D, with incredible resolution. This high tech ; machine also allows images of the heart (Coronary Artery CTA), Virtual Colonoscopy, and other body parts using the LOWEST POSSIBLE DOSE required.
In a conventional x-ray structures are superimposed on top of one another, making it difficult to get a clear picture. Computed tomography, or CT scans take a picture of a single cross-section of the body, giving radiologists an unobstructed view of every organ, bone and soft-tissue. CT uses pencil-point x-ray beams from a rotating doughnut surrounding the patient's body. Detectors pick up the signals which vary in strength after they pass through human tissue. The detectors then send this information to a computer, which creates a picture of a single slice of the human body. Multiple thin slices thru each organ give our physicians extreme detail and enable them to diagnose diseases. |

|
| CT Angiogram* |
The speed at which images are captured with this test allows the scanner to generate images that effectively freeze the motion of the heart giving a 3D high resolution reconstruction of this constantly moving organ - something that has not previously been possible with CT Angiography. This enables cardiac images to be routinely obtained for non-invasive coronary stenosis. Vessels of the Carotid Arteries, Aorta & legs can also be imaged as a non-invasive procedure. |
|
| Virtual Colonoscopy |
This test offers patients a quick, accurate, non-invasive colon examination. It benefits a large segment of the population who either physically can't, or won't have a traditional colonoscopy. A complete colon and abdominal assessment is provided in a single study. A special "virtual dissection" mode speeds identification of polyps and other areas of special interest such as diverticula. |
|
Ultrasound*
Vascular Ultrasound
Cardiac Echo |
An Ultrasound is a method of obtaining images from inside the human body through the use of high frequency sound waves. The reflected sound wave echoes are recorded and displayed as a real-time visual image. No x-ray is involved in ultrasound imaging. Obstetric ultrasound refers to the specialized use of sound waves to visualize and thus determine the condition of a pregnant woman and her embryo or fetus.
Ultrasound is a useful way of examining many of the body's internal organs, including the heart, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, and bladder. Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show movement of internal tissues and organs, and enable physicians to see blood flow and heart valve functions. This can help to diagnose a variety of heart conditions and to assess damage after a heart attack or other illness. |

MRI*
MRAngiography |
Our GE Signa Infinity 1.5 Telsa High Field MRI Scanner allows for detailed exams, using radio waves and magnetic fields. We are able to visualize in great detail joints, brains, and spines. Its use in neurological imaging, sports medicine, and vascular studies greatly helps physicians diagnose a wide variety of medical diseases. Our MRI is the ONLY one in Key West which meets the standards for accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR). |

| Bone Density Testing |
Bone Mineral Densiometry helps physicians to diagnose Osteoporosis, and to identify individuals at risk of developing osteoporosis.
The Bone Density Scanner is able to measure trabecular bone in the spine. Trabecular bone is the area of the bone which responds most rapidly to treatment and so with repeated tests, we are able to see even very small changes in the bone density. |
